Jesse Tree ~ Day 22

December 22
And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant, for behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed…” Luke 1:46

Today’s symbol: Lily

Ideas to do and talk about:
*The Beginners Bible has a simple and brief story “An Angel Visits Mary” in which Mary says “I love God. I will do what he has chosen me to do.” Isn’t that amazing!? And her “Yes!” to God has blessed us all…
*We’ve talked about Mary’s visit to Elizabeth and Elizabeth’s child John on the two previous days. After Elizabeth has greeted Mary, Mary then makes an amazing prayer of thanksgiving, what we call the Magnificat.
*I found this video of children reciting the Magnificat to show the boys:

*Color the lily ornament. Why a lily? I found this information about the symbolism of the lily:
Lily: Symbolizes purity, chastity, and innocence. White lilies represent the purity of the Virgin Mary. The Angel Gabriel was often painted presenting Mary with a white lily when he announced to her that she would give birth to the Son of God.
